Struggle Meals and Budgeting tips part 3

Three struggle meals

  1. 711 pizzas were something I lived off of when homeless. One thing people don’t realize is that when you don’t have a stove or microwave, your cooking options are pretty limited. Years ago 711 would take SNAP benefits for their pizzas and they cook them in store. $5 for a large pizza is a steal, covered by SNAP or not. Obviously this isn’t a gluten free option but back then I didn’t care about eating gluten (I was consuming copious amounts of fentanyl and truly wasn’t expecting to live long enough to worry about my GI health long term)
  2. Another option that’s not necessarily applicable to gluten free but the Too Good To Go app is great for getting discounted food (and preventing waste, there’s a ton of benefits to the app and it’s worth checking out!)
  3. If you’re one that partakes in fast food- download the apps and utilize the coupons and promotions.

Three budgeting tips

  1. Caffeine choices. This is a sensitive subject but it’s one that needs to be addressed. Dunkin and Starbucks are making a fortune off our caffeine addictions. I went coffee free over a year ago and started supplementing different options for the drinks I was still partaking in. I will make a secondary post to share cost effective dupes and ways to get your caffeine fix without overpaying with major corporations.
  2. Refraining from new debt. This is a big one with the holidays coming up and I know I’ve been guilty in the past of doing it myself. HOLIDAY SHOPPING IS NOT A REASON TO USE LOAN APPS. These apps smoke us on interest and the entire concept of smaller payments can snowball and they WILL overdraft your account.
  3. Supercook app is a great app that you can enter in all the ingredients of your kitchen and it will form recipes that you can make with what you already have. Always use what you have first before going to get more! I’m the worst with this- I’ll admit it. When I pulled for donations I found a bunch of foods that had expired and are now useless, those all could have been saved by using the app I’m telling others to use: got to love my “do as I say not as I do” there🙄
