My work has no working heat again. It was a brief week we had functional heat and now it’s back to being an imitation morgue with the ever decreasing temperature. There was a snow storm last night and the temperature outside was basically the same as inside the restaurant. How no one’s called the board of health yet is a fucking miracle- they were in there last week but of course that was one of the few days the heat was actually working.
You’d think that not having working heat would be the owners priority, but instead they spent 2.5 hours making fake cocktails to take photos of for a Valentine’s Day special? The priorities of these people are ass fucking backwards and it’s quite embarrassing. We have a fruit fly problem going on so to have a plate sitting out covered in sugar rimmed martini glasses seems pretty stupid to do, but as the lowest one on the totem pole I’m not in a position to point that out.
Our bartender showed up more intoxicated than usual and went on an hour and a half rant of absolute nonsense upon walking in the door last night. Unfortunately the bar was totally empty so he was following around employees like a lost puppy looking for a bone. His baseline is that of a rabid raccoon, last night it was like he took a week’s worth of adderall and was convinced if he shuts his mouth he’s going to physically die. He is always high but I like the kind where he talks less and cleans more. The longer I’m off drugs the less of a tolerance I have for active addicts, which is hypocritical considering the line of work I’m in is full of them.
I have been told over the years I should work with addicts but my ability to be nice to people is questionable at best and I’d probably have clients relapsing left and right- something I’m all set with having on my conscience. Instead my careers been spent getting people drunk on overpriced alcoholic beverages and pushing shitty food that’s not worth the price it’s being listed as. It’s not an honest living or something to brag about but it’s paid my bills so I’m grateful for it.
