Adding the lovely disclaimer for those with a weak stomach to just totally skip this post. I’m not trying to traumatize people but I would rather normalize this insane stuff so that if anyone else is suffering like this they can potentially get some guidance.
So to recap-
October 15th- ER Trip from what felt like a baseball in my ass and issues with literally leaking blood out of my body in insane amounts and I thought it was oil🫣 Horrifying but I turned into a human jiffy lube and was truly thinking I was dying- which is the ONLY reason I sat there for 14 hours to be seen.
October 18th I quit vaping nicotine. This was a wise decision and a good chunk of my GI symptoms had improvement within 2 weeks of quitting. The baseball and oil change situation totally gone (yay).
November 3rd I met with the GI doctor. Given my extensive family history of colon cancer, my past history with GI issues, and my continued weight loss/pain the doctor ordered not only a colonoscopy and gastroscope for the same day, but he also ordered this testing kit to check for pancreatic insufficiency.
They managed to schedule my double procedure for this week, which I was in shock by that one (I have waited six months to get in for these in the past). Apparently the medical fields advanced some since my last procedure in 2020 and they gave me the option for these giant ass horse pills.
I’m a professional with the drink preps and wanted to give this pill option a shot so I sprung the $50 for the fancy pills. Not only are they gigantic but you have to take TWELVE of them at a time, two separate batches of 12😳
Naturally 3 days before the prep I’m no longer allowed to eat the majority of what my diets been (nuts and berries as snacks like a fucking squirrel), so I’m sure I’m going to be a raging psychopath by the time I’m wheeled into that OR room.
The entire concept of the testing kit is one that weirds me out though. As much as I get it’s convenient for some- the fact that we mail literal feces all the time is unhinged. You’ve seen how the post office can handle some of your packages- imagine that abuse on your fecal sample box😳 I thought mailing shit was a federal crime but now it’s just insurance approved standard procedure.
Apparently I have to tip my mailman extra this year and can’t look them in the eye ever again after this one.
I would be lying if I said the obsession to eat a box of Raisin Bran for this colonoscopy prep isn’t a very real thing. That’s toxic and insane to actually admit but I’d be willing to deal with those horrific pains and having the runs for a week just to eat some Raisin Bran🫣😭
I’m pretty sure I’m a walking billboard for an eating disorder at this point, but I share this to try and normalize it. I’m also well aware I’m not some unique individual who is the ONLY person to ever go thru this stuff, but sharing these things people tend to hide is the best option I have.
I’m hoping this pill prep is less traumatizing than the drink options but knowing my luck I just paid a $50 copay for these pills to be tortured for 24 hours…. Oops.
Has anyone had experience with the Sutab pill prep? Did I make a grave mistake?😬
