I’m grateful for how happy and healthy my kids are. That’s not something I take for granted by any means. Right before I got pregnant with my son I had been working at a Bertuccis that was right next to Boston Children’s hospital and that experience was absolutely gut wrenching seeing those super sick kids and the parents of those kids. Oddly enough the location of that hospital you’d think they would capitalized and have a ton of sit down style restaurants but there was only 2 at the time besides a food court so we consistently had parents of patients and patients from both the children’s hospital and Dana Farber going there. Seeing the toll it took on those parents and how heartbroken they were was something that I’ll never forget.

Knowing your child is never going home and is going to pass in that hospital is something I can’t even fathom, so to witness it as the waitress/bartender just observing really stuck with me. I’ll never forget one of my bosses there used to say “it’s not about the tomato sauce”. What he meant by that was that when the customers spazzing on you and freaking out about some random food order issue- the anger they are taking out on you has nothing to do with the food, these people are hearing some of the worst news imaginable and their anger/fear is being directed at you. The restaurant had a high staff turnover rate as most people can’t handle that kind of abuse, it’s not something everyone’s capable of. I’m so used to the restaurant industry and toxic employers that I almost always expect to be abused at work in some form- if it’s not from the staff it’s from the customers. Bleak take on things but it pays the bills.

I’m grateful for my mother, that woman is an absolute saint and has been amazing stepping up to basically raise my kids since my ex ran out. This poor lady was being released from the hospital the night my ex ran away and literally came directly to my apartment once she was discharged to take control and try to help. She’s been commuting back and forth to my apartment from her place in Boston all while still working and dealing with health issues. The only reason I still have my job is because she’s been picking the kids up from school and staying with them while I work. She’s been the one doing the homework with the kids and filling the role that my ex so rudely just abandoned so he could play the mentally ill freak wandering the woods for a month before his extended vacation in the gated community. My mother deserves to enjoy her 60s, not be raising her grandchildren because her son in law is too much of a bitch to go to a shrink. (Ya I’m still angry despite missing the lunatic)

I’m grateful I’ve made it over 3 weeks without cigarettes! I sure as fuck couldn’t afford to smoke, but I’m grateful for having that crutch to get me through the first 4 months of being a newly single mom. I miss them, but the patch does help a ton and it’s way easier to quit the cigarettes than the vape was.

I’m still actively working on fixing the pricing on the website, but I still have a bunch of these screen prints available! I normally can’t make black clothing using sublimation so this is an opportunity to get a black tee for a heavy discount 👏🏻💸
